Burn smell

Post by jwxb0523 » Wed Jun 08, 2016 10:50 pm

Hi all. Greetings to you. I just bought a honda accord 2.0a jdm and i tried the power by flooring the pedal. Smooth and fast. However, after i stop, there is a burn smell coming from the right rear wheel area. Quite distinctive smell of burn rubber or oil. Is this normal? Please kindly advice.

Jeremy.

apart from the few possibilities listed above, do check yr head gasket for oil spill or signs of oil lining below the valve cover. so when u accelerate, the engine oil inside works up and caused the oil spill onto yr exhaust manifold. thus burning of oil smell.

remedy: redo the valve cover gasket and use a thinker viscosity oil. this should solve yr problem for the next 2 yrs.

reason: due to wear and tear of engine and head/ valve gasket.

hope this helps.
