Weird humming sound
Weird humming sound
Hi bros,
just wanna ask for help here.
Whenever I accelerate to around 90km/h to 100km/h and let go of the accelerator there is werid humming sound.
After asking around i suspect that it might be faulty/aging wheel bearings.
Any bro know how to detect wheel bearing faulty .
If not i will need to jack up the car take out the tyre to check right.
just wondering from the experience of the bros here. how long did yr wheel bearing last?
Lastly, roughly how much will the damge be to replace just as a guage.
Thanks in advance.

Bro if you experiencing 'wong wong' sound when 80-100km/h, it's wheel bearing issue...
1. jack up ur car, spin up ur wheel manually if you can hear any sound that means wheel bearing wear out liao
2. retail price from TS, front bearing $45 per piece and rear bearing hub $120 per piece.
3. labor fee could be $90-120 to replace all depends on workshop.
4. make sure you find a qualified workshop to replace front bearing coz it need to be installed with correct orientation
hope it helps you...

teckie, now my turn. there is a magic button called SEARCH located at the top of the webpage.kira81 wrote:thanks bro... bad feeling came true... just wanna ask with wheel bearing will cause what kinda problems?? just curious other than weird sound...
On a serious note, Here's my take:
Try going at abt 80kmh and clutch in, ie if urs is a manual. If auto, I not sure. Maybe can just shift to neutral??
if you hear the humming sound, can head over to stockist and get ur parts liao...
Front cheaper cos need to xfr the existing hub over.
Rear is a complete set so cost more.
(Hope I remember the info correctly)
Personally, I would change all 4 though some have different schools of thoughts.
FC is the first one to suffer. Some said tyre wear might be uneven too...
Hope this helps...
Learning is a journey. There's never an end to it.

Well, SKF is also a branded brand of bearing.kira81 wrote:Hi techie I found out le on my own... was thinking of using skf bearing instead of ntn.
If u want cheaper price stuff, can try NIS, available from SLS.
Pls dont ask me for wkshop, as I know none...I only know it is safer and faster to fix cars on my own.
