Post by drsong » Tue May 19, 2009 9:53 pm

Hi all

Does anyone have any recommendations or lobang for remote engine starters?

Read on MCF about this one called URES (Universal Remote Engine Starter) that can work with our existing remote lock/unlock

Feedbacks or suggestions? :)

when installing my car alarm, i was offered the option of an additional module for Remote Starter. Not too sure though if that is available separately as a standalone. I suspect it may be.

The location is Pin Liang @ Zion Rd. You can try asking.

I am currently using the Viper Alarms which has the remote control built in.

I love mine as I get to start the car before entering it - especially useful as I do not have sheltered parking at home or at work, and the car can be really hot parked under the sun the whole day.

For reference purposes, my car alarm is Crimestopper.

Think it's upwards of $600 if i opted for the remote start module together with the car alarm.

read about the touchpad on the windshield for some car alarm products...it's a very cool and useful function.

and the remote looks very good too!

thanks for the info guys!

thing is i'm not gonna be installing any alarm, so something like the URES would be ideal since it (supposedly) works with the standard unlock/lock function.

and it costs 170 too, cheaper than getting an alarm with a remote engine start

does anyone know of any other comparable product?

thanks again for the info!

i'm getting the URES installed this saturday 23rd at my shop at 2nd Ave Junction. Guy is coming to do a 2-hr install.

I often see a number of crossroaders here visiting the bike shop (Specialized) so if anyone wants to check it out and test it out for themselves, feel free to do so.

the installation will end at 530 pm in the tenant carpark so lemme know :)
