Buying a new City this weekend

Post by Orangetee » Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:01 pm

Hi folks,

My wife is thinking of buying a new City from KM this coming weekend. Was quoted 82K for a YOM 2009 which includes leather, rims, window tint, etc.
This car is to replace her 4.5 yrs Vios.

I need your help on the following:
1) Is City a reliable and hassle free car? Any recall issues?
2) Is servicing charges expensive during warranty period?
2) What freebies should we ask from KM?

Appreciate your inputs and comments. Thank you.

squeaky suspension on back. suspect lousy kantong.
Front engine mounts stiff. creaky rear board

basically prob-free car. nothing much anyway.

Thank you for the pointers. Still pondering over should we hold on for a while since the current car is not giving any problem.

I believe they may have a backlog of unsold stock thus the cheaper price for YOM 2009 cars.

Hi, I am driving city YOM 2009, basically it quality is better than vios. But the performance thumb down compare to vios although it rated higher hp on paper due to 2 cat.

L series engine has variable intake manifold and integrated exhaust manifold and the so called 'i-vtec' actually is valve control type instead of cam lobe switching on k series engine. This is the thumb again.

Mean while, vios running full 16 valve all time to achieve 15 km/L everage for auto, my friend got 17km/L on manual version. I got mine 13.5km/L manual version, I heard some auto can get better as Honda's auto box has 3 mode, thhumb up for this.

End of the day, it ur choice to choose which one u prefer and how u wan balance between performance, quality and fc.

For me I prefer vios as city is lag of performance, poor fc and the clutch is weak compare to vios 5MT. Accessories wise they are same.

I don know About the maintenance fee as I got 3 hrs free servicing package. Overall city is problemless car.

Hope this help. Cheers......

Thanks Espada.
Appreciate your time for the detailed explanation. We may keep the Vios for a while more as it has been problem free so far. Hopefully it will last us another 2 years and COE will drop by then :)

agreed, I am on my 1st month of a 07' city. clocking 14-16kml. alot better than my esi 9kml. I have problem with knocking engine during acceleration on any gear btwn 2-5. very weak but it is point a to b car and will not be shiok to race, but good mean it makes me a safe driver: )
I got mine at 34.5k manual which I think is high but now interest rate is low, so probably same same situation if wait coe down, demand increase % rates go up. talking abt long term $$ here.

I changed my tire to 205/55/16 to gain comfort since the day I collect my car. probably next tire will try 195/55/16. I have removed 2nd cat and installed pivot 3 drive to gain power and respond, it help.

Next will go for exhaust pressure guide plate to get the integrated exhaust air flowing better thus car won't jerk when changing gear. Anybody driving 09 city manual has this problem? Kindly share with me?

For 07 I-Dsi model definitely has better fc as car is built for fc instead of power.

The c
Itch can be adjusted, I checked with kah motor as city is cable clutch instead of pump. Kah motor refuse to adjust for me and advice me to do at outside workshop with 1 condition, warranty void if anything happen to the clutch eg clutch burn.
