My alternator failed me again after 1 year of usage from repair.Sent my car down this morning to a workshop in Sin Ming Autocare and was advised that usually its the rectifyer and regulator kaput, very common problem. He used a device to clip it on my battery and the red indictor light on alternator from the device light up with the battery and he explained that my battery is ok, still charging but alternator confirm kaput liao as if not,it will not light up.

Nevertheless,he will still need to dismantle out and check what needs to be replaced before letting me know the price but verbally told me $300 got change, sian!!!

Have to admit car really old liao.Starting to give me crap after i have replaced a burst air con piping last month.

Always when I hear air con compressor & alternator problem sends shivers down my spine as I can sense my vitamin flying out from my pocket again!!!

Hi, $480 for new set is consider cheap. Mind sharing the contact person and number for the workshop.

I understand some bros paid $300plus for recon set. kindly advise.

The engine bay give out a strange whinning sound loud when you ram the accelerator. It is not normal sound. You know, the next thing it is going down.

What a morning for me. Car did not make it to the workshop..steering became hard, all lights were lit and the car stopped. I got to get a tow truck to come.

Fixed at my workshop. doesn't take long.

I had mine done last yr, here r some info:

New set: 600-800 depends on shops (inc install)
Recon set: 300-400 depends on condition (inc install)
Dwntime: abt 1-2hrs only
Shop: I checked with lots of shops they do offer almost the same cos i think it's universal, can be use for many models, i guess
