boss, ermm, that's a gymkhana and a solo run. very different when you have to chase someone while drifting or have someone breathing down your neck when you are trying to pull away.
and the JEPUNese are still best at this.
Just my 1 cent, no offense |

No doubt the Japs are the ppl who made drifting popular but the ang mohs are no pushovers..obviously you have not watched Formula Drift series in US..do a search on Tanner Faust and Rhys Millen and Ryan Tuerck and you'll know what I'm talking about...
They don't just use traditionally "made-to-drift" jap RWD cars but also pontiacs and mustangs and even porsches..go watch their videos..you'll change your views! |

correct, i've watched the videos, that's why! Go watch USA vs Japan driftoff. Ang mos are only good with cars with big horses. Give them an underpowered car and see what happens. There are no made to drift cars, fyi. Skill can overcome this but ...
when we talk about drift, what comes to mind? For me, it's the touge. It's where the drift was invented. (no tokyo drift crap here, seriously)
trying taking a stock ride downhill and see what happens...
i'm not saying that ang mos are bad at drifting and such, but i just feel the NIHONJINS still do it better.

Oh no debate here..haha! Frenly discussion only..
I always thot that drifting is a skill good to japs only and everyone else is crap..watching ken nomura and orido and taniguchi you would think they are gods..drifting at crazy speeds and angles..however on starhub cable tv i have a channel called discovery turbo..they feature the formula drift in US and i'm super impressed..the Jap and US driftoff is a joke..not a true gauge of how good the Americans are..
By traditional drift cars i meant Trueno and the silvias and Rx7s and Supras..easier to drift than a mustang or challenger or even a solstice..
Unless they compete in a world series a whole year we may never know which nation is best at drift..the ang mohs only got into drifting a few years ago..so i think they are pretty good liao..haha!
Btw..tokyo drift is a joke..tainted the F&F franchise man..heh heh! |

actually, the ang mos have been drifting for a long long time. and much better than the japs, in the world of off road, 4wd style.
i seriously don't think the driftoff was a joke. it showed the importance of adapting to a car's characteristics. the driver is the factor, not the car. i don't see how one car can be easier to drift than the other based on this fact. what u saw are all cars custom tuned to the driver's style. Whereas the driftoff was using a stock car for the challenge, a very fair way of testing the driver's skill. |

What I meant was the ang mohs got into competition drifting only recently..it hasn't been their mainstream motor racing like nascar/indy/top fuel/rally/formula car/touring car..I'm pretty sure any good racing driver would be able to drift to some standard..
In any case..a certain group of ppl will bound to be better in somethings than other..ang moh will always thrash asians at soccer but badminton table tennis we no horse run..kenyans are gods in long distance running..
I also agree with you that the japs are probably still best at drifting if you take the best in both lands..what I was getting at my initial post was to make a point that the ang mohs are not as bad as you thot them to be..that's all!
anyway..end of discussion..just enjoy the vid! |

well you did say that they are only good with cars with big horses and that given a under-powered car see what happens...so what's a man to think with such a statement?
If I said this "Lewis Hamilton is only fast in a good car like Maclaren..put him in a Force India car see what happens" Would you think that I was saying that he is damn good driver or...?
Haha..in any case I meant no malice..how can I since I know no drifting and thus not a good judge of who is really the better drifter? So yeah..it's still a frenly discussion..at least on my end!! |

Is "what's a man to think with such a statement?" a "frenly" way of talking? I guess that's definitely "frenly" only on your end.
and what's wrong with my statement? it takes more skill to drift an underpowered car, no?
If Lewis was good he would have a better lap time in the Force India car compared to their driver.
You know nothing about drifting yet you still can say so much, if this is not malice, i don't know what this this.
