I doubt it's at SGD12k per year. More realistic will be SGD14-17K per year basis on the current asking price of pre-owned S2000.

Yep S2K @ 14k and above and FD2R @ 11k and above as of now
My CL7R due scrap within mtns, i'm now doing my math between a 2007 ~ 2008 FD2R and AP2

Road tax aside, insurance for existing CL7R is @ 1.2k
I was quoted for FD2R is about 1.5k est and AP2 @ 2.2k est

At 10k pa, its cheap. If its 13k, its still ok. Don't think its possible to find another similar styled car with convertible roof plus 100+hp per litre at this depre.

And, not forgetting this car comes with good reliability and cheap maintenance (my opinion), so long as the engine is stock and not badly abused.

A level higher would be the turbo cars and bigger CC jdms. Even if one can get a fairlady (for example) at the same depre of say 13k, s2k is still a better buy. Lower maintenance and reliability. Power isn't everything, especially if the car is a daily drive.

When I owned my ap2, I thought I could have bigger hp by adding SC or doing stroke. Honestly, leave the car as it is, that's the best. Its the mods which bring up the actual depre/ running cost on the car. If I have a chance to buy it again, it will be a very stock car with exhaust and intake. That's it.

PS: If the depre is too exp, then buy and don't mod. Still ok.

agree that the s2k is pretty much the best in the jdm convertible category of cars (imo - not much choices to begin with).
only the fairlady comes close(road tax is a major turn off).

Guess i will just slowly look around in the market.

Bro,

Its a trade off. Big cc means easier to mod for more power and more varieties, but pay more tax. Small cc also limit the amount of hp moddable from the engine. lol. You havent seen how much the road tax for c63 would cost. :P

My view remains. Be happy with your buy. No end to performance.
