RB3 Losing Engine Oil

Post by gai0609 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 7:38 am

Hello Bros,

Need some advice from anyone who have encounter this please.
I am driving a 2009 Odyssey.
Somewhere in Feb 2015 this year my engine light came up momentarily while driving and I can hear rattling sound coming from the engine.
It went away after around 5 secs and so did the rattling sound of the engine.
Upon parking the car I checked my engine oil. I was very shocked to see that the engine oil is empty. Yes, totally no marking on on the dip stick.

I called up my mechanic and was told that if there is no visible leaking in the external, the problem could be due to internal leaking of the oil into the piston chambers where it will
eventually burn off.

To cut the story short.
I changed to a thicker engine oil ( 1 grade higher ) and monitor the oil level.
This does not help. I am still losing oil slowly.
There is no physical leak that I can see. The place that I park overnight or even for 2 days without driving is clean.

My mechanic advised that I may need to perform an engine overhaul. There is a Honda engine overhaul kit that is available.
I did this and monitor the oil level again ( The cost was around $3K+ ).
It was good for the first 1 month. No drop in the dip stick level.
However, now I start to see my engine oil starting to deplete again and I am at a loss.

Have anyone ever encounter this type of situation before.
I would welcome any suggestion or advice from anyone.

Many thanks and advice.
