Help needed for oil cooler on ek4

Post by pokerface » Thu Jun 19, 2014 2:14 am

guys, I had my set of oil cooler with pipes and 1 adaptor (aka sandwich). Upon installing, i was told that one adaptor is not enough to avoid a blockage at the oil filter area on my ek4. Need to have another adaptor to stack the thickness to avoid.

For those who install oil cooler before on ek4, did u guys use 2 stack adaptor to avoid a blockage located at oil filter area? Is there anyone using just one layer? Problem with mine after installing is leakage in between the 2 adaptors Worst it drip on my exhaust pipe. Bloody stink! Need experienced advise from senior, please help.

Pardon me.

Maybe I am nood. I had nvr heard anyone uses 2 sandwiches for oil cooler. With the pressure created in the engine oil compartment, obviously oil will slip through the gap in between.

Losing engine oil is also not good for your ride. In your case, I rather remove the oil cooler.

thanks for reply. yup in my case was told that 1 sandwich will not be enough to avoid a blockage to the pipe therefore need another to stack so the pipe can mount without problem.

Oil cooler is depend on owner and car need. For me, im comfortable enough to see my oil temp drop much lower. It will reduce wear and tear especially in our type of weather.

ok, i'm not an expert, but what i did was to relocate my filter to somewhere below my airbox, almost next to the engine mount on the transmission side. like that also much easier to change filter during servicing.
